Whilst Mr Finnegan was Jakarta Post Cheif Editor, shortly after the Bali blast, a lot of nonsense "conspiracy theories " were being circulated speculating on the atomic, plutonium or basic nuclear possibility of the Sari club device.
As an editor of the largest English speaking newspaper in Indonesia, the worlds largest muslim population in one country, balancing these theories with the facts are an editors nightmare, of course proof is always a requirement and initially proof was what these theories lacked.
Until one bright young newsroom girl persisted with the editor using the photo below as proof.

Twice Finnegan crunched up the photo and threw it in the bin saying it was nothing get back to work. Twice the newsgirl fetched the photo and insisted he look at it again and again..
Frustrated, the old irishman American editor in Jakarta finally payed close attention to this photo and the answers suddenly smacked him in the head like a runaway roll of Newsprint.
The Indonesian man pictured has severe 3rd degree ONLY on his skin exposed OUTSIDE the protection of his thin cotton t-shirt.
His face badly burned his skin puffed up and swollen.. AND YET HE HAS A FULL SET OF WAVY HAIR AND SET OF EYEBROWS completely UNSINGED!!!!
It finally dawned on Robert S Finnegan that the inexplicable carnage he had witnessed, the impossibly large blast crater that dug a decent size in the main road, the bodies crispy fried and yet had all their hair....
This was no conventional device. Obvious by this photo even to a layman with 2 minutes attention span.
If this were an isolated case relative only to this man then perhaps it could be speculated on to be a freakish occurance.
However m any of other photos taken by Robert S Finnegan and other Bali eyewitness camerapeople that have showed EXACTLY the same thing on many victims and survivors.
These similar injuries by many survivors and victims had specialists and forensics stumped. These types of horrific wounds had not been seen by burns specialists familar with these kinds of scenarios ever before. In otherwords the injuries they saw were not what they would have expected from the type of blast they said it was. This was a whole new ball game Jethro!
We are left asking ourselves viewing these images: What device does this to human skin?
Cooks it outright, even char grills it instantly in a flash. Yet leaves clothes, hair and eyebrows untouched?
What indeed.
Certainly not something "Amrozi + co." could have organised to go off .... For that matter Nor Al Faruk nor Sheik Khalid Mohammed or ANYONE of their faked boogeymen. This now opens the lie right up.
